Dedicated Hosting Uncovered
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three basic categories - shared website hosting servers, VPS (private virtual hosting servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared servers host plenty of clients and so the resources per hosting account are restricted, virtual private server packages offer more configuration liberty, but also influence other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized rashly, and dedicated servers give you the chance to perform everything you decide without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated hosting server?
Dedicated servers are traditionally much more high-priced than shared web servers or virtual private web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is quite simple. If your company has a content-heavy web portal, or simply has very special web server setup requirements, the most relevant choice would be a dedicated server. For somebody who is willing to invest in security and stability, the bigger price is not a concern. You get full server root access and can utilize 100% of the hosting web server's resources without anyone else using these resources and messing with your websites.
Hardware specs
The majority of shared hosting vendors, including us at Cline Hosting, provide several different hardware configurations you can choose from in keeping with your demands. The configurations include different sorts of microprocessors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and hard disk sizes and different web traffic usage quotas. You can choose a web hosting CP, which is a convenient interface if you would like to use the dedicated hosting web server for website hosting purposes only and prefer not to resort to SSH for all the modifications you will be making. We provide three kinds of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The Control Panel of your choice
If you are a self-reliant Linux user (our dedicated servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated server via an SSH connection exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, even more so if you choose to give complete root-level access to someone else who has less technical experience than yourself. That is why having web hosting Control Panel software pre-activated is a splendid idea. The Hepsia Control Panel software that we provide does not offer root-level access and is mainly appropriate for someone who has a lot of web portals that devour lots of resources, but wants to administer the websites, databases and email box accounts via an intuitive web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, grant full server root access and offer three levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting plans instead of utilizing the dedicated hosting server only for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your web hosting server, like a non-responsive Apache or a network downtime, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at Cline Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting server as well. Backups are also an extra feature - the hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would allow you to store the very same data on two server hard disks as a protective measure in case of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full server root access erases something by mistake.
